GENERAL |
Drivers #1 ~ #5 |
Presets the driver name which will be recorded in a drive log. |
Save Driving Log |
Auto save setting for the log (Yes/No/Ask every time) |
Auto-Pause |
Suspends the recording of the drive log when the car stops, for example, at a stop light. Recording is automatically resumed when the car starts again. |
Auto-Stop |
Automatically stops recording when the set time has passed after starting G-Bowl App to prevent excessive battery consumption in case the app is not stopped. |
Auto-Stop Time |
Sets the time for auto-stop. |
When the log is opened |
Set whether the initial position when displaying the running log should be the top or the end. |
Screen Orientation |
For iPad: Select automatic or fixed landscape orientation (used when the landscape orientation cannot be fixed due to the OS version of the iPad). |
SOUNDS AND ALARM |
G Over Alarm |
This function warns the driver with an alarm sound when the G-force exceeds the value set in [G Limit] while driving.
In consideration of vibrations inside the car, momentary overshoots are allowed, and warnings are given when they are clearly exceeded. |
G Limit |
Sets the limit of G-force (0.2 ~ 1.2 G). |
Alarm Sound |
Select alarm sound. |
Braking Diagnosis |
Judges the driver’s braking operation to stop the car. A honk sound is set off if the braking is judged good, and a bell sound if judged bad (additional braking during slowing down is judged bad). No sound is set off if the braking cannot be judged either good or bad. |
Diag – Report on |
Sets if the result of braking diagnosis is reported “only if it is good” or “both when good and bad.” |
Jerk Limit Alarm |
A notification sound is emitted when the jerk generated during driving exceeds the value set in [Jerk Limit]. |
Jerk Limit |
Set the upper limit of jerk to be used in [Jerk Limit Alarm]. |
Snap Limit Alarm |
A notification sound is emitted when the snap(= differentiate jerk) generated during driving exceeds the value set in [Snap Limit]. |
Snap Limit |
Set the upper limit of snap to be used in [Snap Limit Alarm]. |
Snap Limit – Noise Reduction |
Reduce false notifications due to vibration in [Snap Limit Alarm]. |
G SOUND |
Sound for G-Force |
Turns on/off the function of producing tones of different pitches depending on the G-force on the car. This allows the driver to know the changes of G-force without looking at the screen during driving. |
G Volume Slider |
Specifies the volume of the G sound.
Note: This is a sub volume for the G sound only. Even if you maximize this volume, you will not hear the G sound if the iPhone volume is low or the silent switch is on. |
G Sound Mode |
Selects either “Tone Scale” or “Sweeping Sound” for the G sound. |
Base Tone |
Specifies the base tone for G sound (= 0 G). The pitch of G sound increases as G-force increases. The default is the tone of sol. |
Tone Intervals (/G) |
Sets the number of tone intervals in 1 G (10 ~ 40 intervals). The default is 30 intervals. If the tone scale starts with sol, a change of 0.1 G is expressed in terms of 3 tone intervals: “♪la♪ti♪do.” |
Mute Threshold |
Sets the lower limit of G-force below which G sound is muted. Specify this if G sound is annoying when the car is standstill or under steady driving. |
Prefer Score Reading |
Mutes G sound when a score is read aloud for a better hearing of the score. |
SCORING SYSTEM |
Display Score |
The objective is to control G-force throughout cornering, maintaining G-force as close as the “Target G.” The driver’s performance is evaluated on braking (deceleration) G (max 5 pts), cornering G (max 3 pts) and acceleration G (max 2 pts), totaling 10 points at the maximum. The obtained score is recorded in the drive log. Note: This function measures only the driver’s G control ability throughout cornering and does not consider elements (such as the driving line) other than G-force. Thus, a high score does not simply mean “a good cornering.” |
Target G |
Sets the desirable value of G-force for scoring. The recommended values are 0.2 ~ 0.3 G on city roads and 0.3 G or more on winding roads depending on the car speed. |
Scoring Mode |
The default is “Braking + Cornering + Accel.” If “Cornering Only” is selected, braking G-force and acceleration G-force are not considered and cornering (lateral) G-force is evaluated on a scale of 10 points. |
G MEASUREMENT |
Record Z-Axis G |
Record G in the vertical (Z-axis) direction in the log. |
Road Noise Filter |
G-Bowl App measures, with the G sensor, G-force on the car 20 times a second and obtains G data after noise reduction processing. Sets the strength of noise reduction processing (Auto/Weak/Medium/Strong). “Strong” makes the G graph smoother but reduces the response of measurement. Note: “Auto” is recommended when the scoring system is used. |
LOCATION MEASUREMENT |
Map Scale |
Sets the initial scale of the map displayed on the log display screen. |
Map Type |
Selects the default display type of the map from “Map,” “Satellite” and “Map + Satellite.” |
Car Color |
Select the color settings of your car and the comparison car according to your preference. |
Dotted line(Yaw angle) ont the car |
The current direction of the car is indicated by a dotted line. The display will be shown without delay, but there may be a discrepancy due to an error.
The error is reset by driving in a straight line, and can be recorded accurately if a straight line section is taken before the measurement corner. |
Arrow(GPS direciton) ont the car |
The direction of travel obtained from GPS is displayed as an arrow, and since GPS is calculated from the position change, there is a delay like “the direction changes after the car turns”.
It can be displayed for reference, but it is less useful than the yaw angle display, and it is difficult to see if displayed at the same time, so it is turned off by default. |
G METER |
Starting G |
